Sigma And Tamron Compact 28mm-200mm

Can Anybody Please Tell Me If You Used Or You Own Either The Sigma 28mm-200mm Compact Lightweight Lens Or Tamron 28mm-200mm Compact Lens. I Don't Know How Long They Have Been Available, But Any Imformation Anyone Has Please. They Appeal To Me As They State That They Are The Smallest And Lightest In The World!!!! Thank You

I have never used either of the lenses listed and unfortunately I can't give you much information on them either, however Tamron do make an 18-200 compact zoom lense which offer a larger range and pretty good optics for the price. i don't know if you were aware of it or not but it may be worth adding to your list and some of your time to look at.

We have a review of it along with the full specs Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II

I went over that review and the author doesn't really push you to get it... doesn't get you excited if you know what I mean... but I am still intrested in it though... a lens with 18-200 mm...

I know Silkstone and he really rates that lens as an excellent all-purpose. He has some collection of lenses and yet if he's going on hols he only takes the Tamron.

From a personal point of view, I also have the lens, and I totally agree that it is a very impressive all-purpose walkabout lens. It is best in good light but if your camera has good ISO handling then it will be good in poor light. I have yet to see any CA and I find with my copy I'm good for 190 at least. If I was writing that review I would probably say the same. You will never get perfection in a multi-purpose lens and you will have trade off some good points with some not so good. But generally speaking I have the Tamron 18-200 on my camera more than all the other lenses put together and would heartily recommend it....and it's a cracking price.

I'm not pushing you into buying it, that's your choice, but I think it's worth trying it out even if you have to return it as "unsuitable"

Re: Sigma And Tamron Compact 28mm-200mm

I get the point now... maybe on my next trip to Dubai I _might_ get me little gift

On a more serious note, I wish we had a store that offered different lenses... or better yet, a speciality camera store all we have here is Nikon and Camera dealers who don't keep stock!
