So Many To Choose From!
Popped in to scan some reviews ...
Been considering whether to get D300 or some new glass ... Which came first, the chicken or the egg Old cheap glass is useless on a D300, so settled on getting glass first, which I can use on the D50 until I get a D300.So, with priorities set, you'd think it'd be a breeze to get the glass I want ... not so! So much to choose from + I want them all Actually, what I really want is one or two zooms to cover the whole range of focal lengths @ f/2.8. To cover this in one fell swoop, I'd settled on the 17-55 and the 70-200 (both Nikkor f/2.8). But then I also spotted the 18-200 f/3.5 which I thought would do well for a general all-purpose zoom + not have to even think about changing lenses during a shoot. Great, good decision to cover all eventualities, between the 3 of those lenses. But I still have to (ok want to) buy the D300 sometime this year ... gulp that's my Xmas presents taken up for the next few years ![]() Have just ordered Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8 to start with, and will prolly get the 18-200 /3.5, then regroup + count pennies ![]() Think I'll also have a butchers at other Nikon users' gear on here, to get some ideas

Re: So Many To Choose From!
GREAT CHOICE CHARLOTTE WITH NIKON 18 - 200 VR LENS. I HAVE HAD THIS LENS
FOR ABOUT 9 MONTHS NOW, REALLY GOOD WALK ABOUT LENS, NO NEED TO KEEP CHANGING LENSES. UNFORTUNATELY I BOUGHT MINE WHEN THEY WERE IN SHORT SUPPLY, SO PAID WAY OVER THE TOP FOR IT. BUT IT WAS WHAT I WANTED AT THE TIME, I AM VERY PLEASED WITH IT, AND HOPE YOU WILL BE |

Re: So Many To Choose From!
Thanks for your feedback Woody. Yes, all the reviews on the 18-200 are good + I'm looking forward to the convenience of this handy lens

Re: So Many To Choose From!
Woody, you're right, there shouldn't be any excuses (except it did rain this afternoon, quite heavily as it happened
) I'd put photography on the back burner for the past few months (due to other things going on) and had hoped that getting some new kit would get me back into the swing of things ... it's not working yet

Re: So Many To Choose From!
Happens to me fairly often, and also quite often it comes right after a major purchase. You're so excited about the new kit, you don't really want to take the 50-100 photos that won't be great before you get to know it properly. Thats my theory anyhow
