Source of cubed foam for gadget bag
Does anyone know a reliable source of cubed foam of the type used in camera cases (Peli type)? I know Peli do it for their cases, but they are expensive and mine insn't actually a Peli.
Many thanks Pete |

Re: Source of cubed foam for gadget bag
I think places like Dunelms Mills sell foam for upholstery use. Not sure if it is the high density foam needed for photo cases though. Might be worth trying Maplins or B&Q.
Probably find some on e-bay. |

Re: Source of cubed foam for gadget bag
I've used a combo of ordinary furniture type foam (available everywhere) and Karrimat type foam (the cheap copies - very high density but perfect for lining something like rucksacks)

Re: Source of cubed foam for gadget bag
What about the foam you can "pick" the cubes from to fit your camera / lens sizes ? I thought this was what Pete was asking about

Not heard of that. Sounds like it might be the sort of thing that Peli might do (at a price), but I think it unlikely that anyone else would, except perhaps the Chinese via Hong Kong.

Re: Source of cubed foam for gadget bag
The foam in Peli cases is called Pick and Pluck
It's about £12 for a replacement foam for a Peli case, I got one fpr my Peli 1400 and with delivery I thought it wasn't too bad. Most foams are okay but beware of pale yellowy foams because they can degrade and go sticky.

Re: Source of cubed foam for gadget bag
You could get the stuff in a can from B&Q and spray it around the equipment and then... er... mmm....

Re: Source of cubed foam for gadget bag
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. In the end I plumped for an eBay offer - a search on "puzzlefoam" will find it for those interested.
