Question Split Image Focus Screen - advice please?

When doing bird photography, the auto-focus is rarely as responsive as I want it to be (especially in flight, or when using an x2 extension)

I'm getting better at manual focusing, but I think my glasses are getting in the way.

I liked the split scree focus on my old Canon AE-1, and was happy to see I could add an aftermarket screen to my Digital Rebel.

I have some choices... one is from China for $22 USD and includes some tools for installation. The seller has good feedback, including for other split screens sold.

Others, such as from Haoda or Katzeye, are in the range of $80-$100 USD.

Does anyone have any experience with any kind of aftermarket split screens? Is the $22 screen a legitimate, or am I just going to get what I pay for?

This is the key part of the add, and not the spelling mistake

The only part of the kit you get that is original Canon is the box, it has been published on the net.

Search for canon focus screen - Warehouse Express

This link takes you to a company that deals with the genuine thing.

If I where putting a new screen in my 40D and I am thinking of fitting a fast focus screen I'd have no problems paying the approx $60 for the real McCoy

Re: Split Image Focus Screen - advice please?

In fairness I don't think the advert ever claimed it was genuine Canon and the picture clearly shows the packaging which doesn't look like a Canon box. Neither of the Canon screens is a split focus which the OP wanted. For that you would need to go to a third party I know Katz eye make one I have no idea how good the ebay one is.
