Red face Taking off a filter

I just bought a canon EF-S IS 17-85mm. It came with a 67mm slim c-pol germany filter on it. The filter does not want to come off. Any suggestions?

I used a rubber shoe sole to try and take it off the filter turns but will not come off.

Rubber band wound tightly around the part that screws onto the lens?

Re: Taking off a filter

If this is a polorising filter, the front element is intended to turn. You need to make sure that you are gripping the rear section of the filter.

Mark's suggestion of using a rubber band will help or you can buy filter wrenches like this:

Re: Taking off a filter

Dont grip the filter too hard it puts more pressure on the filter, try using a rubber glove and slightly grip and turn....
