Tamrac pro 12

Just got one of these, (some one ran over my Nova 5 aw, fortunately not much in it).
While the bag is generaly good quality and well made, I do have a few issues.
First the adverts are somewhat "loose" in describing it. It lists a load of kit that will fit in it, I found it less accomodating than indicated. My 1Ds111 with 24 / 105 fits after cutting down the "bridge" divider by around 2 inches, but Unlike the ads, I would only JUST be able to get another in the other end with the lens caps nearly toutching.
In the main compartment I have fitted in my camera and lens, spare batt, 50mm 1.4, 70/200 2.8, and 580ex11 with a bit for my spare lens and body caps.
In the front pockets the secondary ones are clear polythene that looks like it will stiffen in time.
Other than that I like it, and bearing the space of the interior in mind would reccomend it.

Dho, Never gave it a thought Dabhand, I will endevour to check here first next time I am buying. Incidentally the best price I could find was £126.
Everything is snug now and will be using it in the next few days, the Nova is now relegated to my lighting bag.

Re: Tamrac pro 12

I THINK WE ALL HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH BAGS. WE CAN NEVER FIND THE RIGHT ONE, THEY ARE THE BANE OF US ALL , WE PROBABLY SPEND MORE ON BAGS THAN ANYTHING ELSE, IN OUR QUEST TO FIND THE RIGHT BAG.

I HAVE A LOWEPRO SLINGSHOT 300, LOWEPRO STEALTH REPORTER AW, LOWEPRO TOPLOADER, TAMRAC TOPLOADER, BILLINGHAM 445, BILLINGHAM HADLEY LARGE.

WITH ALL THESE BAGS, PROBABLY STILL HAVE NOT GOT ONE THAT SUITS ALL THE TIME, I DO TEND TO USE THE BILLINGHAM HADLEY MOST OF THE TIME, GREAT BAGS, VERY WELL MADE.

Re: Tamrac pro 12

Silktone had a large bag collection and picked the one that suited his needs for the trip he was doing. I've gravitated to this way of thinking and now have four bags that I use depending on what I'm doing.

Re: Tamrac pro 12

I've rather a habit of collecting bags (and tripods) and must have nearly a dozen (including one totally unused one - came with the camera!), including the Tamrac Pro 12 and the Pro 8. Use them for commission type stuff as I prefer the shoulder strap for the quick access - and don't take that much with me in the way of lenses so not too heavy (so don't have space issues)

Prefer backpacks, especially when out and about - down to only using 4 regularly with the superbly comfortable Lowepro Pro Trekker AW II (thanks Simpbow!) my "take everything" pack as it'll easily hold all my likely lenses (including the 500). Otherwise it's the Tamrac Expedition 7 for middling gear, Think Tank Streetwalker for travelling light and an adapted Pacsafe non-camera pack for when in more crowded venues (it has the wire mesh embedded in the material, hidden zips and doesn't look camera-ish!)

Re: Tamrac pro 12

I thought it was just me that had a collection of bags, I have a Hamma backpack that is used for keeping everything in, I then "load" for the venue I am going to.
In , Billingham 225, Tamrac Velocity 9, Tamrac pro12, Thinktank Holster 20, Thinktank holster 50 and pixel racer harness and belt. I keep all my flash kit (units, triggers, brackets, gells etc) in my old Nova 5.
Think I will be like Woody and get a bag to keep the bags in.

I've got my flash kit in a 75cm roller suitcase! That does include 3 light stands, umbrellas, several diffusers and reflectors, tons of rechargeable batteries, triggers and two rapid chargers and a load of odds and ends though.

To do that Dabhand I would need to get one of the trailers you can get for mobility scooters ( no they do make them!) But then I probably would need an HGV licence for an artic.

I only need to use it as I do interiors for a bathroom/kitchen/building company. Useful to get everything in one case. I do realise that it would not suit you though.
