tamron 18-200 A14 macro

Hi
I am looking at a tamron A14 lens . is there two different version of this lens
some ads say macro and others don't and there is also a difference in price .
has anyone used this lens if so what do you think of it .I will be using it on
a pentax k200d

I don't think these type of lenses do macro well. You will be better getting a proper macro lens.

i am not wanting it just for the macro it would be use full when out and about .
I have a micro lens but that's more to carry.And time spent changing lenses and the moment may be gone

It won't be a macro lens that gets you to 1:1. Check out it's ratio, to see what it gives.

it's Maximum Magnification Ratio: 1:3,7 170 delivered should do for a walk about or do you think the sigam 18-200 will be better

Not a great magnification that's about 25% lifesize at closest, some zoom lens you can get 1:2 on. Not sure on that zoom range though.

Good for landscapes and as short distance wildlife lens I'd guess. Depends what you want to use it for. Would be a good walkaround carry one lens. That the sigma and the tamron. Not looked into any reviews mind.

Hi
in the end i went for the sigma 18-200 only had time to use it in the garden got some good shots of some birds just need some better weather to get out and give it a good tryout

Never been a Tamron fan! the Tamrons I have owned in the past have never delivered the goods!
