This was announced a while ago but not promoted and as far as I can tell no samples were released to reviewers or stockists. I am guessing that this time Tamron are ready to back the product and hopefully we will see this lens promoted. Judging by its physical size it would make a great general carry round lens and if the quality matches the other recent Tamron lenses it will soon become popular.
