Tamron 18-270 mm f/3.5-6.3 Di-II VC Aspherical IF LD AF

Hi guys
Pretty new to photography, I only purchased my first DSLR NIKON D3200 in August.
Well I am thinking of purchasing a 18 month old Tamron 18-270 mm f/3.5-6.3 Di-II VC Aspherical IF LD AF Lens Nikon & am wondering what checks I can do to make sure it is in good condition & working as it should. The seller is asking 200 & says it is in as new condition.

Many thanks for your help

Shakey

Re: Tamron 18-270 mm f/3.5-6.3 Di-II VC Aspherical IF LD AF

This lens has received good press as a general purpose/walkabout lens and is well worth consideration. However, it was revised a while back with several improvements over the mk 1 version.

Not quite sure when the mk 2 was released - or how to spot the difference, but IIRC it has a piezo motor and has this designation

18-270mm F/3,5-6,3 Di II VC PZD where the PZD indicates the piezo motor.

I think it was introduced mid way through 2011 - but please check on the info that I've given as I'm relying on my memory.

Here is the Tamron web page

Tamron Europe:AF 18-270mm F/3,5-6,3 Di II VC PZD

Here is our news forum announcement that is dated December 2010, (Japan release date) but it might not have been released in the UK until later.

Having now had a look around, you can buy a new one for not a lot more than 200.
