Thinking of buying
Thinking of buying the sort list below
Canon 40D body only. How good is the build in sensor cleaning? What's the ISO range? Is it worth stepping from the 30D or waiting for the 50D if it's on the cards? Canon 28-300 L IS USM Lens camera?Has anyone got this lens? If so what do you think of it? I haven't got that many Canon lenses as I tend to go for the Sigma range but I like the look of this lens as it has a large scope for range plus it would be my first L lens. Or would I be off going for something else in the Canon L range, if that being the case which one and why? I'm happy to invest the money but want to get the right options, thank you in advance for all advice. |

Re: Thinking of buying
Mainly motorsport and some airshows and a bit of wildlife when I can sit still long enough lol. On thinking more deeply yes it would be nice to have some L glass but I think in the long I'll save me cash for now and have a rethink later in the year

![]() If you really want to go L I'd say your 17-85 IS would be the first lens to change, possibly for something like the EF 24-105 L IS.

Re: Thinking of buying
Well I've spent a little bit of money........
Iain I've taken your advice a bought the Sigma 1.4 TC thanks for your advice. I've also gone for the Sigma 18-125 as a replacement for the Canon 17-85 as the Sigma gives me a little more length and is a stop faster than the Canon. Finally I've gone for the Sigma 150-500 for the extra length and HSM to replace my 80-400. I have to admit I'm happy with using the Sigma lenses as I know where I am with them and never had any problems so going on the "If it an't broke don't fix it" saying.... |

Re: Thinking of buying
Please let us know what you think of that 150-500 lens ( apart from the fact that it is heavy ) I am thinking about buying one soon. I think that the optical stabilisation will be a big help.
Where did you get that lens from, I will probably use Onestop in HK but would look at a good UK source as well. |
