Re: Tokina 12-24

I used to know someone who had one and he thought very highly of it.

The only slight downside is that it doesn't go quite as wide as the competition (e.g. Sigma 10-20), and although 2mm doesn't sound a lot it does make a noticeable difference to the field of view.

Too wide ??? Have the man lie down in quiet room. I have the 10-20 and am waiting on a Tokina 11-16 2.8 to arrive from Japan, I am concerned that the loss of 1mm will be an issue. I had a Nikon 12-24 and was not impressed, the Tokina gets a better press. It's only issues are flare, CA and no internal focusing motors.

Re: Tokina 12-24

I considered it , but went for Sigma 10-20mm as it gave an extra 10 degrees view

Re: Tokina 12-24

A great lense, as said built like a tank. It`s good and sharp, definately have to watch out for flare but have had no problems with CA.

Sorry Chromatic abberation the (usually purple) colour fringes that appear around fine detail. It's usually easily fixed in photoshop or automatically in the latest Nikon SLRs.
