Tri/monopod etc

Off to Switzerland in a few weeks. I already have a sturdy tripod but to be honest, I don't fancy lugging it around. Anyone regularly use a monopod? Or maybe a lightweight tripod - compact I'm thinking of rather than replace my existing one with say a carbon-fibre one. I don't anticipate needing one the whole time I'm away but I just know there'll be that great shot that just needs some support.

Cheers

Edit: idiot! Use the search function ffs! There's a thread just down there all about this

[smilie=s:

The P-Pod Multi-Purpose Monopod looks just the ticket - it has some extra stability, a good load weight and looks nice & portable.

I got treated to one of these for Fathers Day. I should have it tomorrow so I'll let you know what I think of it. It's purely for portability when I don't want to carry a heavy tripod. It also comes with a carrying shoulder bag.... for 13 quid!!
