Re: Tripod ball head recommendations

Manfrotto 222 ball head.

or one of these

Grip Action (Trigger Grip) Ballhead w/ Quick Release on eBay, also, Other Tripod, Monopod Items, Tripods, Monopods, Cameras Photo (end time 01-Apr-08 05:30:56 BST)

I have one from them and it's a very good " alternative model "

It even takes Manfrotto plates so must be similar LOL

It carries my 40D and I did put my Tamron 70 - 300 on it before I sold the lens

Re: Tripod ball head recommendations

I was looking at the Manfrotto grip type ball heads, but eventually decided against them and bought a 486RC2. It is rated at 6kgs and fits on my Velbon CF tripod a treat. Well pleased with it.

I think the FLM are good value and relatively lightweight.

Looks like the same as I've got! In which case it's a no-name joystick ballhead. Use it, very successfully, for wide angle landscapes and macro

Markulous

Dead right, I think it was made in the Great China Rippof factory. I reckon it's been made off a mold taken from the genuine item.

Apparently Manfrotto actually got one back for repair, they must have found it quite amusing NOOOOOOOOTTTTT.

Worth every YEN and does a perfect job.

Re: Tripod ball head recommendations

I use one of these for which I paid approx £30 off ebay.

http://www.giottos.com/Products/Ball-heads/ES1_L.jpg

It's a beauty, a Giottos MH-1000 with MH-200 reversable tripod screw for both common sizes of screw
