Ultra Wide

Okay folks, need some opinions here.

Finally, the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 has come down in price in the 2nd hand market in my area where I can seriously take a hard look at it. The problem is I can't decide on the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 or the Sigma 10-20 (old version). What is your take and why?

Thanks

Re: Ultra Wide

I did love my Sigma 10-20mm but I do't have any experience of the Tokina!

My vote would be for the Sigma.

f2.8 would always be a pull for me, but I guess the real question is would you use the lens in low light? The depth of field with this sort of lens is huge, so the larger aperture of the Tokina should not make much difference.

Maybe some research on image quality comparisons would make the decision easier.

Re: Ultra Wide

Tokina looks pretty good, as is the Sigma (and it's one of my fav lenses) - so I'd go for the best deal you can get at the time on either lens!

Re: Ultra Wide

Hey,

get the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. The extra stop is very useful and it's fairly sharp wide open compared to the sigma. If you want to save more I'd say get the Tokina 12-24mm f/4. The extra range becomes very useful when you want to do candid or use it as a normal walk around lens (since 24mm is ~35mm on 35mm equivalent).
