Well the 50mm offers 1:1 magnification anyway, so you don't need to!!!

Re: using extension tube w/sigma 50 mm DG macro for 1to 1

Extension tubes will allow you to

a) Focus closer

b) Get greater magnification than your lens already has. I use a set of Jessops and they work fine for me. Other ones I've heard mentioned are Kenko

I use the Kenko tubes and they are exceptional value for money and great to use.

I use them on my 300 F4. IS (canon) 135 F2 and 100 F 2.8 macro.
