V mount for monopod / tripod

I BOUGHT A COUPLE OF THESE, ONE FOR MY MONOPOD AND ONE FOR MY TRIPOD.

THEY ARE VERY GOOD, BUT THE ACTUAL SIZE IS A BIT DECEIVING, FROM THE PICTURE IN THE AD, BUT THEY ARE A VERY GOOD BUY AND AT 3.97 YOU CAN'T GO WRONG, EASY TO CARRY IN YOUR POCKET OR KEEP IN YOUR BAG

Re: V mount for monopod / tripod

Look similar to the ones that Chrisa was talking about a while back. Think he got his from the 7 day Shop.

Re: V mount for monopod / tripod

I guess they are for use with tele lenses without a mount. I only have one tele zoom which is large and heavy but has a mounting ring so the tripod supports the camera and lens roughly near the centre of gravity. However, if one was panning the tele zoom this rest might be useful.

Re: V mount for monopod / tripod

Yes - they are the same. It is quite small - but does the job with my 300mm with my trek pod.

As Woody says - they are supplied by 7 dayshop ( via amazon ).

Re: V mount for monopod / tripod

CHRIS, I THINK THEY ARE VERY GOOD, I WAS A BIT SURPRISED AT THE SIZE OF THEM, AS THEY LOOK A LOT BIGGER IN THE PICTURE.

AS YOU USE YOUR MONOPOD AS A WALKING POLE, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU HAVE TRIED LEAVING THE V MOUNT ON IT, AS IT GIVES QUITE A COMFORTABLE GRIP WHEN WALKING WITH IT, RATHER THAN GRIPPING ROUND THE POLE

Re: V mount for monopod / tripod

Yes Woody. That's what I used it for, also easier than stopping and mounting the lens on to it when you want to stop. Does not get in the way at all when walking.

Re: V mount for monopod / tripod

Here's a quick couple of shots I took in the car park on my 300mm lens today against my Insignia.

The V head.

The most of the pole - I could not step any further back.

It's pretty much at it's highest position. If I were to review it as a treking pole, I'd give it a 9 - with the ability to act as a camera rest - 10

Re: V mount for monopod / tripod

Not at all bad for under 5! Is that a concentric grip on the top or is there a hand grip at 90 degrees to the pole?

Re: V mount for monopod / tripod

Hand grip on the pole at 90 degrees. Pole was under a fiver - V clamp is extra 3 or 4 pounds.
