Thumbs up Velbon Sherpa 200

Hi all

Am in the process of choosing my first tripod. I have come across the Velbon Sherpa 200, which appears quite sturdy and light enough to carry about. Just wondering if anyone has used/got one, and can advise on its pro's and cons.

I want to use it for portraits and to take with me out and about for general use.

Cheers
Daz

Can't comment on that specific model, but after owning the CF535 I have to say I'm impressed with the build quality

I too have the velbon CF535. Light enough for me to take up the Fells but steady too. All depends how far you want to carry it.

Be aware that Velbon offer two different leg locks. Screw type and clips. Each model number in the range ends in either a '0' or a '5'. The '5' denotes clip locks, the '0' screw locks.

It is a personal preference as to which type to choose. I prefer the clips - others the screws. I find the clips are quicker to operate.

Thanks for that. Had a look at a few today, I'm with you - clips would be my preference to.

Re: Velbon Sherpa 200

Decided to go with the manfrotto 190XDB with the 056 head, very pleased with it - I felt it was better built and good value. Thanks again for all your advise.
