Vivitar 283 Flash

Can anyone tell me whether the Vivitar 283 flash is compatible with the EOS rebel G film camera? I have and EOS Rebel G film camera and a Fuji S9500 digital camera. I have found out that the Vivitar 283 is compatible with the S9500, and would like a flash that will be suitable for both cameras. These seem to be quite cheap on e-bay, which is important to me as i am working on a restricted budget. Can anyone suggest any other flash unist of a similar specification that will suit both cameras as mentioned above?

Re: Vivitar 283 Flash

Hi David - I used to have a 283 and a very good flash they are too. BUT....and it's a big but, some of the older models have a trigger voltage of up to 600 volts. You need to find out what the limit is for your cameras, either google or email the manufacturer.

Here's a link to flash voltages. HTH.
