Waist bag for D3?
Basically my objective is : I'm looking for the best way to carry two cameras etc. without hanging them around my neck or over my shoulder, and the waist seems to be the best alternative for spreading the weight/bulk, to avoid back-ache, which I'm prone to. I also fear that cameras would crash into each other, if more than one hung loosely.
So I figure a waist belt + bags is the best solution But the reviews that I've read say that the current offering of waist bags don't house the D3 very well, especially with a long zoom attached. I hope Lowepro etc. are busy resolving this ... Any useful suggestions?

Thinktank will definitely have one that will work.

Re: Waist bag for D3?
A Speedracer would hold one body with lens attached, another lens and accesories add a Digital holster 40 or 50 for the second body with another lens attached. and you'd still be able to carry more pouches for additional lenses, flash guns, snacks, drinks etc etc.

Re: Waist bag for D3?
I've just reached the capacity limit of my Lowepro Mini Trekker AW, details here.
I have also posted a review. I've since dropped the D70s body and the 18-70 lens in order to accommodate the SB-800 and the Gary Fong diffuser. The one thing is does really well is that when you have it on your back it really is a breeze to carry. my kit and tripod weigh around 10kg and I spent all day walking around Whipsnade earlier in the year and it was brilliant. Don't forget you can get bigger versions too and Tamrac also do rucksacks. I think it would be an advantage to have one bag rather than two, and if you are going to hang two bags on your belt be prepared for you trousers to end up around your ankles

Re: Waist bag for D3?
VinnyP - Those two models are too small for D3 + long zoom, they are pre-D3 models + are too tight a fit.
Graham - LOL the belt doesn't go through your trouser loops ![]() I need to clarify at this juncture that I already have 2 backpacks, a shoulder bag, and several waist bags ... ... I'm only after advice re: a waist bag specifically for the D3 with a long zoom attached ![]() Or if anyone has first-hand experience of carrying kit this way, maybe they endorse it or advise against it. |

Re: Waist bag for D3?
Yes
![]() You know how Silky collects camera bags? Well I'm like that with shoes ... when I left Zim to come back here, I sold nearly 30 pairs of shoes, whittling them down to about 5 pairs to bring with me ... but I've been collecting again ...

Re: Waist bag for D3?
I use a Lowepro 70 AW Toploader which takes a Canon 1D body & 24-70 lens attached (hood reversed) but I don't carry it on my waist as I too would expect my trousers to finnish up around my ankles
![]() I think lowepro do a chest harness that the toploader can be attached too. |

Re: Waist bag for D3?
I don't know if "Camera Care Systems" are still in business, I have several of their waist bags and one of them called "The Elephant Trunck" I am sure would suit!.
Hey Dab, sounds to me you have lost your waist line...Kenny |
