Well it rather depends who you bought it from and whether you bought a lens with it. I bought mine in Feb 2005 at Focus on Imaging from Jacobs at around £950 body only. If it is important, I may be able to find the exact price if I looked hard enough.

$2500 NZLD!
 I had Mine on order for ages an got one of the first to the South Island in New Zealand, it came with crappy kit lens tho - I could buy two new 40ds for that now! as a side note the 5d came in at $5000 NZLD what are the chances of the new one(if an when?) being priced like the first one when it was new?.....I hope not!
