Best UK price I've seen on the 200-400VR is just shy of £4K; over the pond it clocks in at $5527.125 including NYC sales tax, which is around £2763 at current exchange rates.

A return fare from Gatwick to Newark on Continental Airlines weighs in at £323, and you can currently get a wonderful 8 minute helicopter transfer from Newark Airport for $99 (£50) each way. Alternatively, you can ride in style in a limo for £68 each way.

Total cost of lens would then be less than £3200... is that more attractive to you?

Ba humbug ... you can do with what you have, no more excuses My best shot from feedback to date, is from my D70 ..... yeah the D200 allows me to produce better final shots, but it doesn't influence the creativity on the day

I sat + compared the spec's on the D200 vs D300 last night side by side, spec by spec, and the D300 seemed worth the extra £500 to me. But then you already have a D200, whereas I have a D50 i.e. not worth the upgrade for you, but if I'm to upgrade from D50 anyway, may as well go straight to the D300.

Price for D200 has started dropping already (even tho' the D300 isn't out 'til Nov.), Warehouse Express have it at £799, down from £815; not much, but it's the start ...

Well I am back and forth to Hong Kong fairly often and there it would be cheaper still and no air fair to consider no helicopter but the airline throw in a limo . Cheapest I've seen is 35000 HKD or about £2225.

At that price, I'd snap one up right away... it's a gem of a lens and you'd be getting it for nearly half the best UK retail price.

Re: What've You Got Your Eye On?

Have had my 350d for two years and have loved it, now I keep looking at the 40D, but cant convince myself that I am good enough to justify it. Price isn't really an issue, just don't want to appear a poser.
