Thanks for the useful info on ISO in relation to DSLR's VP

Again, thanks for the info

Woody, no offence taken I didn't mean to sound aggressive or defensive or anything like that I was just disagreeing with what you suggested is all, + giving my reasons for disagreeing with what you said, from my point of view. So, no apology necessary

Re: What've You Got Your Eye On?

i think saying that why buy one camera when u want the other is a daft thing to do is a bit of an ambiguous statement.......... I "wanted" a 30D ( 40D wasnt out at the time) but could only afford the 400D........ and to be honest the 30D wouldnt have given me better images thats up to me to do that.
I "want" a L series IS USM lens...... but all my lens's are non USM ( apart frmo one that i hardly use) and most definately NOT L series...... but does it make me a worse phtoographer? Nope...... at the end of the day you are not going to get images accepted to agencies and sell images just cos u are lucky enough to be able to afford a bigger and better camera and/ or better glass.
Guy i know has one of his images accepted to an exhibition down south ..... and it is probably the best image he has ever taken........ and it was taken with a 2.1mp camera phone!

its learning the craft which is far more important than the gear you use.

Fiona,

the wide angle is out of my league financially.. and the 400D only has a 10 sec timer on it which is a bit of a pain hence the reason why i want a remote shutter release
I've got a remote release and wouldn't be without it, but if you put 'mirror lockup' on in the custom settings the timer becomes a 2 second delay and the mirror locks up - 2 reasons for super sharp shots - and much more conveniant than a 10 second delay.

It wasn't ambiguous in the context of the discussion Woody was suggesting to wait a year for the D300 price to drop, and in the meantime buy a D200. I didn't see the point in that, if one still intended to buy the D300 as well. In your case it was instead of. Two different intentions
