Re: Which Wide angle?
Being a Canon user I know nothing of the Nikkor lens you mention. I did have the Sigma 10-20 though and was very pleased with it on my 20d, I read a lot of very good feedback on it when I was looking around at what to buy.
I'd still have it now except I bought a 5d. cheers Dan |

Re: Which Wide angle?
Well here's a good starting point
wide angle adviceYou'll get quite a few members rate the Sigma 10-20mm, including myself. For pure quality , the Nikon 12-24mm is a cracking lens, but it does cost a fair amount more than the Sigma. The extra 2mm at wide end of Sigma also equates to an extra 10 degrees view. I'm sure others will drop in their views soon |

Re: Which Wide angle?
Bang for buck you can't go wrong with the Sigma
As Dave says the extra 2mm, to me, is worth it. |

Re: Which Wide angle?
The Sigma 30mm isn't really wide-angle - equivalent to 45mm on the Nikon - so very different capabilities from the others on your list.
There are good reports of the Sigma 10-20, the Tokina 12-24 and also the Tamron 11-18. |

Re: Which Wide angle?
The Sigma 10-20mm is a cracking lens and the Sigma 30mm 1.4 is an ideal "Std" prime lens equiv to 48mm on Canon 350D

Re: Which Wide angle?
I have both, the 30mm 1.4 is my least used lens of all. The 10-20 is much more versatile. The 30 is a nice full height portrait lens and good for kids but it overlaps a lot.
