well, coz in my opinion, it's not a good deal.

I'd personally expect offers in the classified section to be fairly competative - given we are a community and we're all "friends".

Fair enough offer this on ebay at this price - it's kinda expected there - but here...

While he may have an expectation to sell at whatever price he see's fit, I don't see why I can't warn others that there's a cheaper alternative. I mean we all do it with other retailers, why not apply the same rules to private sales?

I agree with Orangepeel, this section is provided to allow members to move on their old or unwanted gear at whatever price they see fit to ask but it is not here to rip people off, be that intentionally or otherwise. If the price is to expensive the product simply wont sell.

This product may well be worth the asking price and the peace of mind provided by buying privately and avoiding eBay but Orangepeel has only provided information relevant to what it can be purchased for elsewhere, he has not said don't buy from this member as the price is too much, instead he has left the decision up to any perspective buyers after providing information that was informative.

That to me is how a community should work.

If its something that I am looking for then yes I do search for the price around the web before entering into a deal with the seller. If its not and I happen to know the price of the item anyway, and its close to the asking price then its in the community spirit to point that out to the seller and perspective buyers.

The seller may not be aware of that and may adjust the price to make the deal more favourable or not as they see fit, but at least both parties are informed and can then move forward with that information.

Just like the Pixalo Suppliers, Shopping and Bargains forum helps everyone and has proved popular due to its very nature. It was setup to share and help members save money by poining out bargains around the web, the same can be said for the Classified section in as much as it was setup to help members..both sellers and buyers...but its not helpful to allow a member to pay more for something secondhand than it is to buy it new.

Pixalo was formed on the premise of helping other photographers for free, in a friendly and supportive way, not as a place to allow one member to make profit from another through others sitting around and saying nothing. Quite simply, if you wish to attempt to overcharge a Pixalo member for your secondhand gear then by all means try, but don't expect any other reasonable members not to point it out in public and potentially 'trash' your party.

I quite agree with orange peel and Steve, it,s a friendly site and we can all comment on any topic published ,surely!

Let's also not forget that Orangepeel is probably doing Muscle750 a favour inasmuch as if Muscle7050 was not aware of the current price of this item, as has been said earlier, it just would not sell. At least he now knows whether to put a more realistic price on it or keep it.

I've seen ads on here where the seller has spotted the same items offered for sale elsewhere cheaper, and have then adjusted their price and said why.

I don't think members are in any way trying to rip others off, I think it is more a question of not knowing what the going rate is.

Ive just come home ....great 8 replies i thought and not one wanting to buy it! It actually cost me over £200 a year ago prehaps someone could post the link to the ebay site just so i can see.End of the day its a open market If u wanna buy one on ebay carry on if u dont then dont etc i aint losing any sleep. Ebay Canadian site quoting just under £30 pp to uk, No picture showing Buy it now prices from retailers uk over £200.

I don't see the problem with the Canadian seller tbh. Many of us buy our gear from overseas all the time. I certainly wouldn't have any qualms about a seller with 5454 sales and a feedback rating of 99.9% positive. However there is the possibilty of import taxes. A point you missed but one I'd grant. I've never been hit for 'em yet but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
Even with £30 p&p it's still under your price (which is plus p&p) by £15 and theirs are brand new, and come with a free daypak.

Spent ages doing my research prior to buying one of these very bags.
