22" widescreen monitor recommendations please!
Thinking of getting a new monitor to go with a new PC - preferably widescreen 22" or larger. Not for gaming so response time isn't critical, but general quality is.
![]() I'd be grateful for any recommendations. Ta!

Re: 22" widescreen monitor recommendations please!
Steve mentioned a Monitor that had 24" version of the same panel we both have in this monitor :- Pixalo Photographic Equipment Reviews - 10 20 35 W 20" - . Best ask him to update you, as I've lost the link..... all I know was it was very tempting at the price

Re: 22" widescreen monitor recommendations please!
I have been using IIyama proline LCD TFT monitors since they came on the market.
My old 15" one is still going after 8 years with no dead pixels and no sign of degridation. My 19" Proline that I bought when I got my new PC last august is still stunning Iiyama 22" TFT LCD Monitor ProLite E2202WS-B1 Wide 5ms 1000:1 1x VGA 1x DVI-D 21.6" Visible Black (3 years on-site Warranty) - PLE2202WS-B1 - www.microdirect.co.uk This 22" is a stunner but maybe look at LG I have just given my mate my old slow 12ms LG Flatron that was a good monitor also with no pixel faults. LG 22" TFT LCD Monitor L226WTQ Widescreen DVI 2ms Black & Silver 5000:1 Tilt Revision 2 (3yr Manufacturer's Warranty) - L226WTQ-SF - www.microdirect.co.uk This one would be a good bet especially as it has a 3000:1 contrast ratio. Only one question why Widescreen ? Unless you want to watch TV or have a panoramic camera there seems no point to me ? |

Currently use a 20" widescreen Dell - the dearer one - and am very pleased with it. I think the Samsung get good reviews too. Chris: Quote:

Re: 22" widescreen monitor recommendations please!
Can't contribute on the quality, but the size I can recommend getting the bigger screen.
I worked two 20's for awhile, with an upgrade of just one of them to a bigger size, now the 20" most of the time is just to move things over too. Depending on the APP..which will make better use of it, like putting masses of pictures across the board,. I think the cost of screens has dropped quite a bit. |

Re: 22" widescreen monitor recommendations please!
Thanks for the replies everyone.
Currently I have two machines with 19" 1280x1024 LCD monitors on each. I fancy a larger widescreen on the new one for the reason Dabs suggested, especially since prices have come down so much. There seems to be a good choice of 22" screens, but not so much at 24". Maybe 24" is a bit OTT.

Re: 22" widescreen monitor recommendations please!
I have an Acer AL2202W and have had it for about 1 year I guess. I have no problems with it, no dead and no hot pixels. It runs at a native 1680 by 1050 pixels. The 5 ms refresh rate makes it OK for games as well.
One point make sure your graphics card can display this resolution. My wife has her PC set up next to mine and now wants a wide screen. That will mean a new graphics card. |

Review: Samsung 226BW LCD, "C" Panel | AndrewSwihart.net The Monitors I looked at in PC world at the time were dreadful . I assume that this has been sorted by now. I have not kept up with it since I bought the Acer I have.

Re: 22" widescreen monitor recommendations please!
You're right AQ there was a big hoo-haa about the 3 different panels 'A', 'S' and 'C' where the 'S' were made by Samsung but 'A' and 'C' panels were sourced out because Samsung couldn't handle the demand. There were apparently quality issues with the out-sourced panels BUT I think these were overstated + I think panic struck duly. There were MANY reviews (and, because of this very issue, I read loads of them) which said the 'A' and 'C' panels were absolutely fine. Everyone was asking for the 'S' panels, until Samsung stopped displaying in the technical info which panel each particular monitor contained. I think mine is a 'C' panel, but whatever, it's great + does the job
