Anti Spyware Programs.
Good evening everyone,
Can I pick your brains as to what spyware program you use. I have installed, spywareblaster, adaware se, and spybot search and destroy, plus my anti virus program also has a spyware catcher, to me that all seems to much.. Is there not one good programme that I could get, free or otherwise that would deal with the spyware problem other than having so many installed.. your thoughts.  Take care John |

Hi John....I don't think you will get a freebie or cheapie that will stop everything. That is probably why most people use a combo that they have found will suit their needs and not rock their PC.
For example, with regard to the last point, I won't touch Norton with a bargepole since, if you decide against it, you can't get rid of it short of a full re-format. I have a system which works for me. At the moment nothing gets through (except a couple of bozos in China trying to sell me shoes and viagra) - anyway I have AVG 7 Free editon Spybot Windows Firewall Windows Defender ISP anti-spam plus I run HiJackThis and CWShredder now and then. They all run quietly in the background and most importantly my system is stable. HTH. |

Hi Stepheno,
I don't use norton anymore, I did some time ago but found that it slowed the pc down, I'm running panda titanium anti virus plus firewall and it also has a spyware catcher, I must say that I am very pleased with this programme. Don't know of windows defender, is it anygood? Is hijack this only used if you wan't to get rid of something specific? whats cw shredder?  Take care John |

Windows Defender is Microsoft's own anti pop-up/spyware etc. HighJackthis is good for removing spyware that puts itself in your Startup folder. CWShredder finds and gets rid of spyware which hijacks your browser and substitutes their home page for yours.

Short of changing your email addy (which I don't want to do) the only thing is to immediately delete the email so they don't know if they have got through. Eventually they might give up. OP is the one for this stuff.
