B&W printing

I am thinking about trying B&W printing using a dedicated printer. The plan would be to get a 4 colour (? 6 Colour) printer for this and a set of black only inks. Does anyone use this sort of system and if so what inks. I am assuming an Epson printer at the moment.

Re: B&W printing

I use an epson 1160 A3 printer, that I got off ebay, with dedicated Lyson 4 x Quad black neutral ink CIS system and am very pleased with the result.

Re: B&W printing

I have an Epson R300 and to be honest no matter what inks I buy black and whites always have a purple or slightly green tinge.

Best thing is to get loads of opinions and hope for the best.

I too use a continuos ink system but ink qualities do tend to vary where black is concerned, and just to add wood to the fire papers vary in how they take black ink as well.

Thanks for that it was quite useful. Just what I was thinking about.

Re: B&W printing

Just get an epson R2400 - you don't need a dedicated one then - the B+W output is superb with no colour cast - you can then use it for the odd colour print as-well
