Bluetooth headsets on PC
Has nyone had any joy getting a bluetooth headset to work on their PC ia a dongle thingy? I'd like to use mine for Skype so I'm not tethered to the PC (need to work knitting and sewing machines etc) but so far it won't play ball. If I can get the wretched thing to pair at all, it still won't actually use the headset ... I get conflicitng info from people about whether the wireless network is causing a prob
PS I do generally know what I'm doing with this sort of stuff (ish) - just it's got me stumped this time |

Re: Bluetooth headsets on PC
I'll have to leave this one to someone else as I have not had the pleasure of using Bluetooth at all. I am sure that one of the other guys will offer some advice soon.

Re: Bluetooth headsets on PC
it's actually the skype side of things u need to check.
Make sure you are paired and joined to the PC. Next go to the skype settings and then to Sound Devices. You'll need to make sure the headset is in that list and selected. |

Re: Bluetooth headsets on PC
that's the problem - it sees the headset and says it's paired, but then skype won't talk to it

Re: Bluetooth headsets on PC
just tried mine. and while it was crap, it did work.
I had to pair it with my PC, trust it, enter the passcode. Then on skype I selected the "Windigo BT Audio" in the audio in/out drop downs. Then I did a test call to echo123 |

Re: Bluetooth headsets on PC
is there a sound device in your control panel associated with your bluetooth adapter?

Re: Bluetooth headsets on PC
then that is probably your problem.
You'll need a driver for your usb dongle that has an audio driver built in. I couldn't find a driver for mine but I just installed the BlueTooth manager software and it worked for me. This is what I downloaded... obviously can't say if it'll work for you... http://www.windigosys.com/3.1c.zip (btw the server was really bad for me. Make sure you use a dl manager that can resume or you'll be redownloading for days) |

Re: Bluetooth headsets on PC
i've got all the drivers etc that came with the dongle, it just seems to be conflicting somewhere, and the only info i can glean points to it not being workable on a wireless network (this pc is connected via ethernet because it's adjacent the modem and router, but the rest of the network is wireless to obviaTE running miles of ethernet round a 4-storey house)
makes a nonsense of all this wifi malarkey if this really is the problem with it all. I've been at the sharp end of the IT industry since 1977, but this is so close to defeating me it's got right up my nose |

Re: Bluetooth headsets on PC
well I have wifi and it's fine. Why not switch the ap off then test?
however the wifi would not affect the lack of sound device for the usb dongle. |
