Burning to DVD's

I need a program that can burn my DVD's and leave them open to add more files. I was told you can do that with the DVD+/-R's and you don't need the RW's.

I have the Roxio program that came with my computer, but it doesn't have the option to leave the DVD open.

Anyone out there have any ideas?

Nero is the program you want and if you buy a oem copy you can pick them up for peanuts

Just had a quick search and this came up in the states PCMicroStore / NERO Ner 8 ESSENTIALS The All-In-One OEM Bundle Solution for DataAudioPhotoVideo Suite 1 V. 8.1.1.1

Re: Burning to DVD's

oem = Original Equipment Manufactorer its basically comes with no retail packaging, your meant to buy oem versions with some sort of hardware but alot of suppliers are happy to sell them on there own or if you have to buy hardware then buy a $5 mouse then you have a spare mouse and full version of the software for a fraction of the price

I recent bought Norton internet security 2008 oem on its own for £17.99 compared to £50 odd retail price.

I also use Nero and would heartily endorse it.

Re: Burning to DVD's

One problem with Nero is that the normal install for the current version 8 has a great many added "features" that it wants to install as well as the basic burning program. This may or may not be a benefit to you.

An alternative may be Cheetah Burner for $25 according to the www page. This works well with a much amaller install.

Even better perhaps a quick Google search for "Freware DVD burner" came up with several hits for free programs including

CDBurnerXP: Introduction and News

I know nothing about this program but you could have a look at it.

A while ago I had a problem with a DVD that I added files to. The earlier files were no longer visible. As DVDs cost only about 15p each now I just burn to a new DVD each time. I assume they will be even less expensive in the US. That also has the advantage that you wind up with duplicate backups of the older files, always a good thing to have.
