Firefox 2 security gets critical attention
The Mozilla Corporation has released Firefox 2.0 - an update to it's very popular web browser and it's been receiving some critical attention from security experts; the security firm Secunia currently reports zero Firefox 2.0 flaws and three in IE 7 - Microsoft's new browser version. Over time, and comparing Firefox 1.5 with IE 6, Secunia has logged many more flaws for IE 6 than Firefox 1.5.
However, some have suggested that there are weaknesses in Firefox 2 - it's suggested that the new Antiphishing technology is both weak (blacklist based) and a potential privacy problem. The privacy issues are raised because Firefox 2.0's antiphishing features employ an engine previously released by Google, which has been shown to potentially cause privacy risks. On the other hand there are plenty of plaudits for the new system too. The links below provide some of the most recent comments and reviews.
