Firefox 3.0
Firefox 3.0 is now available - no longer in beta. Get it while it's hot.
![]() But... be aware that not all the plugins and themes have caught up yet - many are not available for FF3. Adblock Plus, Foxmarks and FxIF are available. |

Re: Firefox 3.0
Cheers matey
- I'm assuming that it's rolled out for Win and Mac as well as Linux, although the Mozilla Europe site is still pointing at Firefox 2. I've not fired up the XP machine to see if FF offers the update.EDIT/ Thanks sotelo - so it is available for Win too. Check out the Phoenity Reborn theme, or Metal-Lion Andromeda. ![]() |

Re: Firefox 3.0
I had the BlackJapan Max theme it matched perfectly with the Windows theme I had installed, but it wasn't compatible. I'll have look at the ones you mentioned.

Re: Firefox 3.0
Most of the FF2 add-ons should become available for FF3 after a while. I've been using the beta version, and the plugins I mentioned weren't compatible until recently. I think it will depend on whether the person who developed the plugin is still active.

Re: Firefox 3.0
Hmmm, well I'm just pleased it's not my main browser as only 2 of my 8 plugins work. Well, at least GMail notification works!
TBF, it's only at RC stage, so I'm sure the others'll be along soon! ![]() |

Re: Firefox 3.0
Where did you download it from because, as you say, the Mozilla site is still pointing to FF2

Re: Firefox 3.0
If you want to be at the cutting edge with releases then you have to accept some plugins and add-ons not working at this stage. If you like to play around and want to make them work with the RC releases of FF3 then download the developer tools and after installing that you can then bypass the plugin incompatibility warnings and force them to work with RC3 etc. Most will work without any issues but some obviously won't.
Since the final version of FF3 is expected in the next couple of weeks anyway I would just hold off until then. Whats a few days ![]()

Re: Firefox 3.0
Certainly does seem very fast. I moved over to Opera quite recently as it thrashed the hell of out FF2 and Safari in terms of speed, but now this one matches it, and you can't beat FF for overall compatibility

Re: Firefox 3.0
FF3 beta 5 was installed automatically with Ubuntu 8.04, and the updates are automatic too - so I didn't have to go to their website for it. Thanks, Mark, for the link.
BTW the Linux version I have doesn't say it's a release candidate in Help > About, although the website does say that. Maybe the version in the Ubuntu repo is different. ![]() |

Re: Firefox 3.0
Says v 3.0 in Windoze - RCs often aren't named as, should no further amendments be necessary, it can then become the final release version

Re: Firefox 3.0
Ah, that'll be it then. Anyway, aside from the issue of limited plugins, it all seems to work and is definitely faster than the beta version.
