Keyboard and mouse suggestions...

I have been using standard but good keyboards since I can't remember when and an old but trusty mouse. Both are wired.

I fancy a change to something a little more modern and was thinking of going wireless at the same time. Looking around there are many options and many prices, the big question is are the price differences worth the outlay and are wireless mice (in particular) now good enough and accurate enough for image editing? I don't game that much at all these days so 'lag' shouldn't be a major issue as long as it feels responsive.

The Logitech Cordless Desktop LX710 which costs about £40 for the wireless mouse and keyboard has caught my eye, does anyone have this and if so what's your opinion?

Also I am interested in any information or experiences you want to share about keyboards and mice..which you liked, hated broke after a week, if you tried wireless and hated it or if its now good enough for image editing etc. Please share your views

Cherry keyboards, Razer mice.

I've used wireless k/b & mice and hated em. They where forever running out of juice just when I needed em. Plus they either need expensive batteries or aren't really all that wireless.

The ones I have for the new PC are MS Wireless Keyboard 3000 and MS Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0A.

Price is around £20 for both and they suit my needs very well.

I have the Microsoft Wireless laser 6000 at work and I love it. The keyboard and the mouse batteries hold out well. The keyboard has lots of little gadgets on it such as magnification and favourite websites at a touch of a button.

I have the cheaper Microsoft Wireless 2000 at home. The keyboard is great but I didn't like the mouse so went back to a wired.

Don't know about battery life yet, although the wireless mouse I use with my laptop is still on the original batteries after 18 months. (Doesn't get used much though.)

Much better not having the cable clutter, and the mouse is easier to use without the cable.

Don't know about keyboards but I agree with Orangepeel on the mouse - for a mouse that is best of the best go with a Razer.

If it has to be wireless then something like a Logitech MX1000 series. I use one at work and its really comfortable and acurate.

At home I use and Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse I believe it will work with any bluetooth enabled computer but it can be tricky and takes a lot of getting used to tho.

Mmm, I ought to consider this , as I have 2 PC's going to 1 screen, so end up swapping over keyboards & mice with the inevitable spaghetti of wires !!

If you have 2 computers you might want to considr somthig like Synergy

Synergy

It allows you to control 2 computers with only one keyboard and mouse.

Another mouse option, I have a cheap and cheerful Technika wireless optika mouse for my laptop which cost about a tenner in Tesco I think. It uses a USB to connect so no wires at all.

Agree with the wireless haters - don't type that much and find vanilla keyboards/mice fine, tho' do use a MS Trackball on an non-graphics-edit system (as it saves space)

I use a Logitech wireless mouse. It works fine, had it about one year; batteries still running. Like it a lot...Kenny

Go Mad and get a Logitech Dinovo Bluetooth desktp set.

I've had one for about 5 years and it's still going strong.

Mouse has a recharge cradle and built in rechargeable batteries, keyboard I use Nimh batteries and they last about a year.

They setup is expensive at about £100 but if my ever dies I'll go out and buy another one without thought.

I would never go back to wired mouse and keyboard....what a pain on the ergonomics. Oh...and I use Belkin slimline.

Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite something or other here, havn't had a problem with it, decent wireless range (more than enough for a desk), good ergonomics. I use rechargable batteries so I don't have a problem in that regard... it's also pretty accurate but I prefer to use a graphics tablet for any detail work tbh.

I've been wireless for both mouse and keyboard for about six years. My mouse started to play up after five and a bit years, and my GrandSon broke the spacebar on the keyboard about six months ago (although it still worked), so I bought a Microsoft set in Costco for £30. Can't remember the model - 5000 or something.

I'd not go back to wired, and the battery life is more than acceptable.
