Re: Last check on PC Config before ordering

Well after a bit more digging I came across some charts to compare video cards. Couldn't find the 256MB Nvidia GeForce 7300LE TurboCache graphics card, so chose 6800 version hoping it's a lesser model

Tom's Hardware Guide Processors: VGA Charts

From this it appears the Nvidia card produces nearly 3x frame rate per sec. If this is correct I would assume it's worthwile spending the extra ?

Re: Last check on PC Config before ordering

They both look OK. I always say get the best video card you can. My only other comment would be - can you not get the fist system with 4mb dual core?

As said they are both good specs and just a like a car, they'll both be obsolete the day after you buy them so just buy the best you can afford.

Re: Last check on PC Config before ordering

Dave, just a matter of interest, what sort of price are you looking at for that type of set-up, I'm hoping to buy a new PC later in the year and I'm bewildered by the plethora of options and specs available.

Re: Last check on PC Config before ordering

Hi Colin. Used this search criteria here :- http://outlet.dell.com/Emea_Dfo/EuDi...inventoryTable

Basically wanted to ensure 256MB graphics card & 2MB of memory. Prices are excl VAT, but when you add to cart & choose optiions, there is one to save an extra £55.

Note these are refurb m/c's , but OK by me as I can't find this cheap elsewhere. Also note the search I have used doesn't include monitors. I bougt that seperately & ended up with this little cracker :- http://www.pixalo.com/reviews/showpr...uct/205/cat/27

Re: Last check on PC Config before ordering

Cheers OP. I did check on comparision charts & found P4 to be slower than the ones I mentioned above ...... & they cost more in these m/c's

Is the "PenD920, 2.80GHz, 4MB" dual core ? Can't suss it via information I've found so far.

Re: Last check on PC Config before ordering

Yeah, intel have taken a bit of stick with their processor numbering. People could be forgiven for thinking bigger numbers = better. Not in the case of intel sadly. It's a bit of a mess atm.
