Lightroom v1 30-day trial out now
It left beta a few weeks ago and now the retail release version of Lightroom is available to download and try for 30 days direct from Adobe
https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/i...&loc=en%5Fu s The download is a tiny 22MB in either Mac or Windows flavours, so you've got no excuse not to ![]() IMPORTANT If you shoot RAW files and you're planning on running Lightroom alongside Photoshop CS2, then you'll need to download and install Camera RAW update 3.7 from the Adobe website too; this version of Camera RAW is cross-compatible with any edits or adjustments you make to your library images in Lightroom and vice-versa. Re: Lightroom v1 30-day trial out now
I bought Rawshooter so got a free version 1 of Lightroom. I didn't like it at first but a couple of days ago I decided to give it a good try and so far I am liking it. The cache for thumbnails is a a bit wieldy at 85Mb - but next stage is to compare it with RS feature by feature.

Re: Lightroom v1 30-day trial out now
I downloaded and started using the trial Lightroom. It was very impressive, and I got used to pretty quickly; results were good and I was pretty sure that I was going to buy the full version.
However the beta has now expired, and for the moment had to go back to my previous workflow. That using Capture One LE. To be honest now I'm not sure I can remember what I really liked about lightroom.. there's nothing that I'm really missing. Anything in the full version that wasn't in the beta that might sway me back?

Re: Lightroom v1 30-day trial out now
So far I am still with Lightroom. There are some aspects of RS workflow that I'm finding difficult not using - plus it's a tad slow to load the thumbnail cache when first opening but after that it fair flies along. It's good to have a browser and raw converter in one but I still finish off in CS2.
What I think really makes it is the interface and layout with a widescreen monitor. So far |

Re: Lightroom v1 30-day trial out now
I forgot to add that someone will, no doubt, say why not use CS2 and Bridge to browse and convert. Well, I tried that and, although I've nothing against ACR, I think Bridge really sucks. I can make a cup of tea just waiting for it to open and that's on a fairly high spec machine.

Re: Lightroom v1 30-day trial out now
Stepheno: what are your PC specs? Bridge doesn't take all that long to open to a useable state for me - about 7 seconds in total going straight to my RAW file folder.
Core2 Duo E6600 (2 x 2.4GHz), 1GB PC-4300 DDR-II, 750GB S-ATA II drive. There's a lot of things in Bridge that are kinda hidden and less well known, almost to the point of not needing to use Photoshop for many common tasks. If I find the time I'll post up a 'how-to' primer on getting the most from Bridge. |

Re: Lightroom v1 30-day trial out now
I am a lightroom convert, did your Beta have stacking file versions? Mine didn't but I wasn't sure if it was the final version. I find it very useful. CS3 Beta bridge is very good as well but does need some grunt to fly along and definitely needs an Intel processor, it hates Athlons for some reason. By the way has anyone managed to download the bridge update? The link just times out for me.
