Portrait background jpegs

Being the cheapskate that I am, I purchased only one muslin background cloth - a green chromakey one, on the basis that I could use Photoshop to remove the background of any portrait and replace it with a suitable one.

Only thing is, I can't find any free to use large images which look like the coloured muslin backdrops normally used for portaits.

If anyone knows where such image files can be obtained, I would be forever in their debt

You could ask someone to shoot a picture of their background or if you don't want to be forever in their debt, buy one

Sorry I can't help. I'm guessing you could just pretend you took all of your portraits outdoors!

Rather defeats the object of being a cheapskate though

You could try getting an image from istockphoto.com, try these Muslin images. The large image size is 2036 3043 px and will cost you 12 credits (10 credits = 11.50 , 26 = 29.95)

Re: Portrait background jpegs

In Photoshop try 1) FILTER -> 2) RENDER -> 3) DIFFERENCE CLOUDS , then play with hue/saturation, bit of blur , bit of noise etc

Alternatively , after 3), keep pressing CTRL F until you get pattern required. Then desaturate. Then coluorise in Hue / Saturation.

I would advise adding some noise, to make it tally up with noise in portrait shot.

Re: Portrait background jpegs

Quick & diirty based on 2nd option above

Note you could create multiple versions in different tones, then add as extra layers & then play with blend modes. The world is your oyster

If you then want to be really clever you could FILTER-> RENDER > LIGHTING EFFECTS to make it look like the background was lit
