Scan Dual 2
Plugged my slide scanner in [1st time in over a year] and got error message 'no scanner connected'.The light came on but nothing else.I uninstalled the software and re-installed from disc but still no joy.It used to make a 'noise' when setting itself up but now nothing, zero, zilch
Any ideas? ![]() |

Re: Scan Dual 2
Disconnect your scanner then boot your machine, then shutdown and power off reconnect your scanner, then boot up again. Doing this may help your machine to rediscover the scanner.
Hope it helps |

Re: Scan Dual 2
I think what Davey was getting at was to power up the scanner and leave it on before you switch on the computer. If you are using XP, it ought to 'find' the scanner as 'new' hardware.

Re: Scan Dual 2
Sorry for delay but I'm on back shifts at the moment. It is USB and the only thing that has changed since I last used it was a disastrous attempt to install Service Pack2.I had to play the start up/recovery disc thing that came with computer then get all the Service Pack 1 updates etc downloaded and installed.I have nt tried the re-boot thing yet but wll give it a go later,
Cheers |

Re: Scan Dual 2
I will never, ever understand computers.I was connecting the scanner via one of the two USB slots on the front of my computer, the other being used by my broadband modem.I unplugged the modem and tried that slot and hey presto, the bl##dy thing recognised it and ran the wizzard and installed fine!!.As a matter of interest I plugged the modem into the previously 'not working' USB slot and it worked fine as well ![]() |

Re: Scan Dual 2
actually its not as uncommon as you think, a friend of mine who dabbles in computers told me once that was the first thing to try if something that was working wasnt and if my modem freezes which it sometimes does it will work in one usb and not the other
