Second party printiong RIP's any users?
I was wondering if any body else is using a second party RIP for there printer. I am using Colorbyte Imageprint RIP, which is one very flexible printing tool. Unlike many RIP's that only work with CMYK, Imageprint can also work with RGB. The amount of profiles for different inks and paper that are available for this RIP is mind blowing, and they produce very good prints a lot better then the profiles that come with a Epson printer. If you come across a ink paper combo they do not have, they will make profiles and then host so they are available to any body who has brought there software. Getting your own profiles made for Imageprint and your printer produces better prints than a profile made through your own printer RIP and is well worth the extra expense. Where Imageprint really excels is with Black and White printing. The profiles provided will give true blacks with no colour casting using all colours of your ink set. Imageprint will better a wet room print for B&W. Once you have used a good RIP, you realise that printing directly through Photoshop (via your printer software) is the part of the process that still has a long way to go, before real satisfying results can be achieved quickly and easily every time. You can download a demo from Colorbyte web site although you can not print. Well worth the money if you like the printing process of digital and as said true Black and White to boot.
