Star Office or OpenOffice vulnerabilities - Upgrade

If you use the Office suite 'Star Office' or 'OpenOffice' (which have similar functionality to MS Office but is free of charge) you should update it without delay; a maliciously crafted picture file contained in a document which may be offered to you by email or via a web page could seriously damage and compromise your computer. The vulnerability is rated by Secunia as 'Highly Critical'.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities requires that a user is tricked into opening a specially crafted WMF/EMF file or a specially crafted document and would then allow execution of arbitrary code which could place malicious software on the affected machine.

The vulnerabilities are reported in OpenOffice prior to version 2.1.0 – you should upgrade to 2.1.0 as soon as possible if you are a Star Office/Open Office user.
