Stupid question

I have been using PSE 3 and not had too many problems. I have now bought PSE 5 due to a new PC and Vista. I am struggling desperately to get to grips with this as I am, more or less, computer illiterate.
All I would like to do is get all of my thumbnails on the workspace at the same time. Unfortunately the Adobe photo download is not working at the moment, for whatever reason, and this had the "Browse files in Editor" thing which meant that I would just download my piccies and then view them in Editor.
I put this thread in the "Photo Manipulation" section originally and got some advice but it did not seem to work.
At the moment I open a file and the thumb nails are tiny, far too small for my fading eyesight so I really need to get decent sized thumbnails.
Can anybody help me please ?

Re: Stupid question

I have PE 3 and 5 and also found 5 Organiser to be difficult to use. To adjust the size of thumbnails you adjust the slider at the bottom and towards the right of the Organiser.

You may well find that the Downloader will only work for JPEG files but my experience is that it cannot download RAW files from a Camera.

I also found that the Organser likes to see everything under My Pictures and can lose track of pictures if you move them without using the Organiser.

I should add that I am not a regular user of Elements; I only use it for demos and teaching techniques as I use PS CS3 for my own work.

Once you get use to it, Elements 5 does have some good additional features such as curves and convert to B&W.

Re: Stupid question

Thank you Dave. Have had another go with PSE5 and still have trouble getting all of my images on the workspace at the same time. This not aided by the Adobe Photo Downloader going missing. I suspect this is something to do with my cr**py Vista software !
You also mention downloading from a camera ? Does the same apply to a card reader ?
Thank you again.

Re: Stupid question

I don't actually know about card readers as I do not use one. However, I suspect a card reader looks more like a standard disk so there is less likely to be a problem. To download from a camera, there is a standard interface protocol for JPEG so even Windows can download JPEG files from a Camera. Unfortunately, this is not the case for RAW files and my experience with Canon is that you have to use their software; I do not know about other manufacturers. As it happens this is not a problem to me as I can use Canon's EOS Viewer Utility for my DSLR, compact and Epson Viewer/storage device.

Re: Stupid question

Thank you again Dave. I have now come to the conclusion that it is just not possible to get all of the images on the workspace at the same time. What I have been doing is using the Ctrl button and putting all of my images in the Photo Bin. I can then bring up one image at a time to work on or not as the case may be.
Thank you again for your help.
