What do you use to get your monitor calibrated?

Hi guys, what do you use to calibrate your monitor. I've never dived into this before but when looking up on the net then I get the expensive software like Spider2Pro in front of me. I really am not sure for what to go

Re: What do you use to get your monitor calibrated?

The two systems I looked at where the Spyder System, and the ColorMunki system.

I opted for the Spyder system but then regreted it when I wanted to do printer calibration as well.

The Spyder does screen only and if you want to have a closed loop system you need to then buy a Spyder print as well.

The colormunki whilst more expensive is a closed loop Monitor and printer system and actually uses the same hardware as the high end Espon printers use.

If you want to spend the money go Colormunki, I have a number of friends that have that system and the results are great.

Sadly this is another you pays yer money kind of stories I must add though I have had very good results with my Spyder system.

I use a Spyder (don't print myself) but am disappointed (kind of!) by how little it adjusts!

I think Chris is right. Colormonki is probably the best system.

Have I got one?

No.

Re: What do you use to get your monitor calibrated?

for pure monitor calibration, the monitor calibration wizard by Mike Walters from Hex2Bit does the job quite well...
Hex2Bit - Software by Mike Walters
once you have the monitor showing the right colours, its then down to printing off a test page and altering the printer to get wysiwyg... long, tedious at times, but once set, its done.

Re: What do you use to get your monitor calibrated?

I used to have a Spyder to calibrate my monitors but didn't like the results.

I now (have been for a few years) use a Gretagmacbeth Eye One with Spectraview software.

Re: What do you use to get your monitor calibrated?

I have excellent results but just use a Spyder 2 express. However, this can only calibrate one monitor on a system so you may need to pay more if you wish to calibrate multiple monitors.

Re: What do you use to get your monitor calibrated?

I, also, just dont. I like a good lab (For me it is less head pain and cheaper on materials.) A good lab will send you sample prints in your color, and in their calibrated color. Mine was so close I only needed to drop a thing or two. If I am printing sold prints, I usually let them color correct the final product any way. Only now and then do I darken or brighten something out of the norm to where I dont let them.

Re: What do you use to get your monitor calibrated?

Well yes you can spend money on loads of accessories. Big money as well for these packages I'm not sure what to do, for now I'll leave it

I'll have a look at that free software and see what that is.
