Camera died.....

..... and this was it's last pic (OK, 2nd to last - but slightly better than the last!)

So my trusty Canon 7D, very worn over 5 1/2 years, dropped and bent the hotshoe 2 years ago, taken a few 100k pics (I will get around to figuring how many sometime) has turned up it's toes and expired. Nothing comes on, so I'm figuring mainboard and therefore probably not worth the repair. Reckon I'll get another as it does all I want, so I reckon a s/h

Re: Camera died.....

Bad news in the failure - but a fairly good innnings for the camera.

760D i find good. May be equivalent to the 7D ? Without some ISO stops / slightly slower fps.

Re: Camera died.....

THATS REALLY BAD NEWS MARK, SORRY TO HEAR THE 7D HAS GIVEN UP.
I SOLD MY 7D, OVER A YEAR AGO, IF I REMEMBER, I BOUGHT MINE ABOUT THE SAME TIME YOU BOUGHT YOURS, I BOUGHT MINE ON 7th DECEMBER 2010.

MAYBE THE 7D ONLY HAS A FIVE YEAR LIFE SPAN.
BEST OF LUCK WITH WHATEVER YOU DECIDE TO REPLACE IT WITH

Re: Camera died.....

You've certainly got a good run out of it though, with some excellent shots !! ... not considered the 7D MkII ?

Re: Camera died.....

Many thanks, guys
After thinking long and hard (well OK quick look at the bank balance), I've gone for a secondhand in apparently excellent condition with just over 4k actuations @£350 - and I've all the accessories, batteries, etc so a saving there. As I got close to half a million out of the doorstop and it's rated to 150k, think I did well out of it!

I did look at the MkII specs when it came out - and actually saw nothing to even vaguely tempt me. Improved, yes, but nothing fundamental

Here's a fun shot from it's last day, down at the rescue's kennels, of Danika

At least you got plenty of pictures out of it. Here's hoping the next one lasts as long.

Re: Camera died.....

It must be failure month.

My MacBook Pro just bit the dust. The good news is that it looks like it's the high res graphics processor and there's a recall on that model. It's booked in to the local Genius Bar next week so we'll see what happens. Meanwhile, I'm on Linux, which is just as good for command line work but not as smooth for graphics.
