Re: Pippa (Panasonic G3)

Roofer, There seems to be a slight magenta cast in the colour image, the white hair shows this. A very good set of photos, sharp images and good B&W conversion.

Very nice set Roofer

Welcome to the Magenta Cast Club (I can't see it in your shots BTW - but have suffered with it previously, on here and with mono prints )

Re: Pippa (Panasonic G3)

Nice puppy Roofer we have two jacks in our house and one looks just like Pippa, I am not sure about the magenta cast I wonder if it is just the skin you can see through the coat they look like they have a lot but it is very see through
Cheers
Mick

Re: Pippa (Panasonic G3)

Agree nice set, and how Shadow seems to have accepted the newcomer is great - looking so relaxed I'm inclined to agree with Mick on the cast though. There are signs of magenta in the ears and around the nose, but I am sure these are in the coat. The rest is just skin showing through. An easy way to check this is to bump the saturation up to maximum - any cast will show up.

I found this tip elsewhere on the Internet and it works very well for me:
A simple and quick method of checking your white balance in general - wind colour saturation to maximum (I find you have to be careful with green/magenta not to over-saturate), and adjust the white balance until the colours look good. They are then probably are correct, although they are very much OTT. Rewind saturate back to normal, wait a few minutes for your eyes to re-adjust and set saturation to your preference. Unless I know (read can guess = not often) the colour temperature before a shot, I will use WB=auto. Since finding this tip, this method has helped me pickup where the camera is off, without using any tools.

Re: Pippa (Panasonic G3)

Thanks guys for your comments. Pippa does have alot of skin showing thru her fur giving her a tinge of colour, but it may be down to me getting used to using Adobe lightroom! Shadow the cat is a big softy and when I say big he is huge (maine coone) they get on great together although the cat is boss.
