Rattus norvegicus
Realised that I haven't taken any shots of our Dumbo rats (left behind now youngest's gone to Uni) and they're getting relatively old now - and currently I'm looking after them........
#1 Tried using their usual cage floor material for this shot of Squeak........ ![]() #2 ........ and usually I'd prefer their usual habitat (and so material) but preferred the cleaner lines without........ ![]() #3 ........ so shot Lottie without ![]() #4 ![]() Natural light, Canon 7D, Canon 15-85, Sigma 105 |

Re: Rattus norvegicus
Cheers, P-E!
Know what you mean - I have a thing about wild rats - they're just a little bit too big (as I don't mind mice). But domestic ones are really quite cute - very friendly and really appreciate handling (a bit like the eldest's ferret) |

Re: Rattus norvegicus
Similar feelings to Ian, maybe because of its reputation for bringing The Plague and its totally lowlife in the wild, but do like the way you've caught the eyes of Lottie, especially the last shot

Re: Rattus norvegicus
Thanks!
Think Plague was carried by the smaller Rattus Rattus (Black Rat) which, I see is endangered in UK - Norvegicus is the common Brown Rat (and most domestic rats, including these Dumbo Rats) |
