This is obviously quite an old lens. Don't know anything about Canon, but it is probably going to be a FF lens thus giving about 54-160 on a crop body, and will the macro aspect be compromised?

If not and it is in good working condition, could be a bargain.

Now you got me worried dabhand,not sure what to do now,he has a whole list of lenses,i really need someome to look at them before i commit to buying anything,i was thinking around a 135mm would do.

I have no experience of this lens but a close focus of 85cm means it is definitely not a Macro lens. At 135mm a Macro lens should focus down to around 35cm. None of the lenses that seller sells for Canon could really be called Macro.

I just thought I'd mention the range thing in case it was not what you might be expecting from the lens. The thing I'm really not sure about is if a FF macro lens will still be a macro on a crop sensor camera.
