. He will probably then remove this item and repeat saying removed, sold for £2500. No way would he have two listings with identical pieces.Especially the cock & bull story about a repossession. Usually if its too good to be true then it usually is. Brian |

Re: What do you think???
I mean ask the seller if you can go and see the camera. (Then you will know it is for real.) You left off the "grin" smiley which indicates the humour in my comment.
Quote:
He didn't make up the "sold for £2500" bit. You can see that the bids did go up to that figure. The two listings are not identical. The first had Tamron lenses. This one has Nikkor lenses. They are clearly two different kits. He did say in the first auction that there would be a second one, so no surprises there. I agree that the "repossession" story is a bit dubious. Too good to be true? What seems too good, Brian? The bidding is currently at £1,850, and there still five days to go. It's not like he's selling it for a low BIN price, when I would then agree with the "too good to be true" thing. I believe this to be a genuine sale. I do think that he simply sold the last lot privately in order to avoid Ebay fees - you can see that the bidding reached a good price, which I think he accepted privately, then made it appear that it was not sold so that he didn't have to pay Ebay their fee.

Re: What do you think???
No worries Hooky - sorry if you initially thought my comment was rude or whatever
![]() I am in dialogue with the seller. He has replied, but I've asked him another question and am awaiting his further reply. I will update you on what he says ... |

Re: What do you think???
In his answers in the first listing he replies to a query about which lenses they are with:-
"yes it is for a Nion D3 the lenses are 12mm-24mm 17mm-55mm and 14mm-24mm wideangle all in as new condition" ![]() |

Re: What do you think???
Ok here's my conversation with the seller ...
I asked : "There is a forum discussion going on about this item, where a lot of people think that this sale in not genuine. I think it is genuine. Could you please answer a couple of questions, to confirm one way or ther other: Why did you end the first auction early and cancel all the bids? Please explain your position as "repossession agent" because we are wondering why you are selling the stuff privately on Ebay, if you are a repossession agent working on behalf of a company. This action seems a bit questionable. I look forward to receiving your full explanations on these questions please." He replied : "Hi I have answered these questions a few times already. #1 Last auction was ended early as a gentleman came to few the items and offered £2500 cash to end auction could not end auction unless I cancelled the bids. #2 I own a company of repossession agents and on one occasion I arrived to evict a famaly who had fell behind with the mortgage they had tried to gather enough cash to pay off the arrears to stop the eviction but where unable to. So when I arrived they offered to sell me camara equipment which I know very little about. The contracter that was with me said it was worth more than they needed. As you can imagine it was a a difficult position to be in as I did not want to take advantage of people that where in trouble. I split the equipment in to two lots and when I sold the first lot I returned to the borrower and offered then the extra cash and the other equipment back. They refused as they said I had helped them out of a very embarrissing situation. I have since donated the extra cash to a charity and have now came up with the idea of paying the proceeds of this auction to the borrowers mortgage" I then asked : "Thanks for your quick reply. So anyone wishing to come and view the equipment could do so? And you would accept cash on delivery? Do I have your permission to quote your answer in the forum for the benefit of others who are discussing your auction?" He replied : "Yes." I then asked : "Sorry, me again. Why would the borrowers refuse to take the other camera and "extra cash" if they have fallen behind on their mortgage, I don't understand that. Sounds like they need all the cash they can get, in order to keep up with the mortgage, otherwise they wouldn't have fallen behind in the first place." He replied : "What I paid cleared the arrears. I was told that the gentleman of the house had secured a new job and they are now back on track. They fell behind because of self employment did not work out." Make your own minds up ![]() |
