Another dilemma

Ok folks, help me out here. Decision time....

I have been given a photographers pass to go to the Cardiff concert of the X-Factor Tour giving me free and unlimited access to shots of the performers from the front of the arena which holds 20,000 people. The performers will include Rhydian, Leon, Same Difference, Nikki et al but it will require me to take two days of my holiday entitlement to go to it.

Now I know X Factor might not be a big deal for most people and I have to say that since the stunning Leona Lewis won, nobody else has come even close. But this would be my first opportunity to take shots like this in such a venue.

What do I do? Take the passes and go for it (tickets for the Bournemouth venue sold out within 2 hours of going on sale!) or pass it up and keep my two days of holiday entitlement?

Cheers,
Rob

ps No suggesting I pull a sicky please!

Re: Another dilemma

Rob, i'd say its a no brainer, go and take lots of shots, whether your into x-factor or not there's some invaluable experience to be had there.

Re: Another dilemma

Post me the tickets
If you have been given access to photograph then just think of the money you could potentially make, not my cup of tea but I would go just for the saleability of the images you could get.

Re: Another dilemma

How much holiday do you get - 4 weeks at least ?? What would you do with those two days if you did not go. You will not get this chance again

Re: Another dilemma

Looks like the majority reckon I should go for it and I have to say that is my natural inclination.

In answer to the question about how much holiday I get, that is where my problem lies. I get 5 weeks BUT I am forced to take 2 weeks at Christmas as we are closed so I have just 3 weeks to spread throughout the year. I am using 8 days for my holiday with my wife and friends in April. So, if I use these two days in March, I have just one week of holiday to use between April and December. That is a LONG time when you are teaching, trust me!

So you can see why I am procrastinating on this one. My head screams yes for sure. I just need it to be so worth it that it will carry me through the next few months of solid wrking LOL.

Cheers all,
Rob
