Is any body on this forum into HiFi? I came here through a HiFi forum. It also seems that on HiFi forums their are a lot of photographers. May be it's the whole gadget thing that goes along with these hobby's. Although I would be the first to admit that HiFi is about indulgents, and not necessary an art and a skill as when taking photos. Although putting on a CD after a few beers can some times need a bit of skill.

Well until all mine got flooded in the basement :?( of previous house I used to have all Linn gear.

- Karik CD player
- Kairn preamp
- 5 x LK100 amps (3 activ)
- Keilidh speakers (activ) triamped
- Centre speaker ....basically a kelidh on its side
- LP12 turntable

Used to sound awesome Now have a Roberts DAB radio & that's it

Is it Townshend TT he sure makes some nice gear. Spend a lot of time on Head Fi, although I do not have a headphone set up any more. I have a Croft amps, Bluenote CD player, and Art Silettos. Also have a Sansui TU-X1 tuner and a Dynaco FM-3.

Not such a good swap, hope you're keeping the Roberts above sea level.

I take it this is one of these new fangle gadgets that youngsters use!!! I have my wind up gramafone that has served me well for many years the only problem I am having is trying to get any sound out of those new small shiney discs that the record shops sell these days. I have tried sharpening my needles but it has not helped, any advice please

My homemade turntable. Weighing 200 kilos. The chasis is made from lead.crushed granite and slate
mixed with epoxy resin.The platter is laminated from steel and PVC and weighs 38 kilos. The motor is a 24v dc with skewed armature driving a 10 kilo flywheel which runs at 600rpm,this drives the platter.The armtube is made from one piece of solid aluminium,and retained in a massive steel bearing housing.
This took 3 years 6 months to make.

That turntable is amazing. I thought my Unlces SME turntable ws impressive.....until I saw this. Can I ask, have you compared it against any other hi end turntables ?
