Any twitchers out there?
This landed in my garden this afternoon. Tiny thing and not at all nervous of us. I've Googled but can't find anything. The closest I can find is a Pied Flycatcher but that's not quite right.
Be grateful if anyone can identify it for me. ![]() ![]() |

Re: Any twitchers out there?
Seems finch/bunting structured with that beak. Top offer is it's a hybrid!

Re: Any twitchers out there?
Looks a bit like a cross between a bunting and finch - has a seed-eating beak I think.

Re: Any twitchers out there?
Sorry - not one I know at all. Definitely a see eater and i would have thought an escapee and a foreign finch that are very popular in aviaries around here.

Re: Any twitchers out there?
I posted on a wildlife forum and the consensus seemed to be that it's an escaped Pied Bengalese Finch.
Not something you see in your garden everyday! OH is getting worried I'm going to ask him to build an aviary to go alongside the chicken run! |

Re: Any twitchers out there?
Yes I once had a couple of these Bengalese foreign finches, they used to eat millet seed same as the Zebra finches, must as someone said be an escapee.
