Test drove a 2003 Merc 320 CDI Avatngarde today ...& very nice it was too Considering selling the missus's BMW 120D Sport , which should roughly cover cost of the Merc.

Problem is a friend warned me the early version of current E class had some electrical faults I've no problem with a 60K mile car, but I don't want all that leccy stuff going wrong. One would assume if it's got this far , nothing should go wrong

Anyone owned one or know someone who has ?? Have they had any probs ?

Dunno about the 320/270 but a mate down here had his Merc (not sure which model - big estate thing!) in for it's first MOT and it nearly failed because the floorpan was nearly rusted through! Seems they never bothered to underseal it!

Early e class mercs are reknowned for the engine x member to rot out and the lower arms then disconnect themselves!!!!!!!!!! 2003 u should be ok just look at the bottom of the doors for rust.
electrically can be troublsome thou although build quality is not what it used to be with the germans.
