As some of you are aware I had a big accident on my motorbike about 18 months ago and broke lots of bits, well after a while most bits were working fine again but I have had a lot of problems with my wrist (stop the smut now) just got back from hospital after results of CT scan and I need yet another bloody operation to take out all the metal work that they put in. ARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH, there I feel much better now, Thank you

I feel for you Gary but if they are taking the metal bits out does that not mean that things are going well?

Is this likely to be the last operation?

OUCH.....will mean time off work Gary...& do you have insurance to cover your earnings if off ? At least you won't keep setting those metal detectors off at the airport now

There's nothing like a good ARGGGGHHHHH to make you feel better! Gary, that must be hugely frustrating but hopefully it will sort everything out for good. If it makes you feel amy better, a friend of mine is about to have a third lot of brain surgery....this one to remove all the Teflon they put in there during the first two operations!

Ahahahahaha, time off work, I don't think so, I remember when it happened I had a wedding to photograph the following weekend and one of the best pics was the reflection of me in glass of horse drawn carriage holding camera with arm in plaster and wires sticking out everywhere. The client was soo impressed.

The metal work is coming out because it has done it's job and they think that it may be causing the problems in the wrist, soooooooo this may not be the end of it.

has the injury effected your photography in any way? holding the camera for long periods for example?

Well i got knocked sideways on the M6 going about 80 mph and then the bike highsided me and I bounced merrily down the motorway coming to a stop in the fast lane. broke 10 bones in total, ribs, thumbs sternum and compound fractures in right hand (bones sticking out n stuff) looked cool!!! The person that hit me carried on and has never been caught.
Holding the camera can be a problem but I tend to balance it on my left hand now so it takes all the weight, occasionally I forget and try picking up my camera bag with my right hand only to start swearing a lot. Just about re-built the bike and had it resprayed in 2006 colours etc but not sure if ill have to sell her and get something that aint as bad on the wrists. Oh well at least it hasn't stopped me drinking

Reckonyou'll have to sell the bike Gary, as the Triumph played havoc with my wrists. I could see you on a black Speed triple......cracking bike & absolute hooligan looking thing

If I have to sell her I will probably go down the route of GSXR 1100 and streetfighter it with some flat bars etc, The annoying thing is I had just had the wheels resprayed a gorgeous dark purple with a light metal fleck in it, I remember hobbling back up the motorway to check that my newly painted wheels wern't chipped, and they were not

As a newbee I did not know about your problems and am sorry to hear both what you went through and what is {now} still to come. I do hope all goes well for you and after your operation it is not too long before we see you posting back on here,but after reading how quick you were back working when it first happened I cannot see you being away from here for long
